In addition to a completed application for admission, all international applicants must also submit:

• Official secondary/high school transcript(s): your transcript(s) must be emailed to Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ directly by your school, from an official school email address, in order to be considered official. If you upload your transcript yourself, it cannot be accepted.
  • If your transcript is not in English, you must also obtain an official translation. The translation must be sent either by your high school or by the translation service.
• International Student Gap Year Form: if you graduated from high school more than six months prior to submitting your application, you will be asked to share what you have been doing since completing high school.
• Letter of recommendation: your recommendation must be written by a counselor or teacher. They may email their letter to international@msmu.edu or submit it via Common App. You may not upload your recommendation letter yourself.
• Demonstration of English Proficiency: all international applicants must demonstrate English proficiency as part of their admission process. English proficiency may be demonstrated via submission of one of the following official test scores (taken within the last two years):
  • TOEFL iBT score of 79 or higher (our college CEEB code is 4493)
  • IELTS band score of 6.5 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test score of 120 or higher
  • Pearson PTE-A score of 54 or higher
• Alternatively, you may satisfy the English proficiency requirement if one of the following is true for you (verification may be requested):
  • English is your native/official language
  • You attended a high school where English is the medium of instruction
  • You scored 510 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading & Writing section of the SAT
  • You received a "C" grade or better in a college-level, non-ESL English composition course at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • You successfully completed the

  • Personal/financial sponsor bank statement(s) that meet or exceed our estimated cost of attendance for your chosen program (see Estimated Cost of Attendance above for details). Bank statements must:
    • Display the date (within the last 60 days), account-holder’s full name, account type (checking or savings), and account currency
    • Be printed on bank letterhead
    • Be certified with a stamp or bank employee signature
    • Be for a checking or savings account (liquid cash assets)—investment funds, securities, and retirement accounts CANNOT be used as proof of funds.

*PLEASE NOTE: Our estimated cost of attendance is updated annually in early Spring. You may be asked to provide a new bank statement prior to I-20 issuance that meets Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ’s new estimate at that time.

December 1 - Early action deadline

Students who complete their application by December 1 will receive their admission decision by mid-January. This is not a binding commitment. Students who are interested in being considered for the following programs must apply by the Early Action Deadline:

• Le Puy Founders' Scholarship
• The Honors Program

January 15 - Priority deadline

Students interested in being considered for Direct Entry to Nursing must submit their applications by this date. Students who complete their application by January 15 will receive their admission decision by the end of February. This is not a binding commitment.

After January 15 - Rolling admission

We will continue to receive and review applications throughout the spring and summer as spaces are available, including Direct Entry to Nursing. International applicants must apply by August 1, but if you are outside of the U.S. and require an F-1 visa interview, you are advised to apply no later than May 1 to allow time for the visa application process.

All admitted international first-year, traditional transfer and transfer BSN students will automatically receive our Dean’s International Student award – no separate application required. For students enrolling for the 2025-26 academic year, the award will be $20,000 per year.

International first-year applicants may also be eligible for additional selective first-year scholarships depending on their GPA, date of application, chosen major or other factors.

Estimated* international undergraduate student expenses, 2026-2027 academic year:

*These costs are estimates only. Your actual expenses may differ from the above. Please note that our annual cost of attendance increases slightly in early Spring every year.

**This is the minimum amount of funding that an admitted international undergraduate student needs to demonstrate to Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ for I-20 issuance.

If you are admitted to the Mount, you will soon see a new item, “Decision Reply Form,” added to your Admission Portal Checklist. Before we can issue your Form I-20, you will need to commit to Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ by completing this form and submitting your $350 Tuition Deposit. The deposit will be applied toward your first semester tuition balance.

Once your deposit is submitted, we will issue your Form I-20 and share it with you via email with instructions on next steps. Please note that while we can issue your I-20 up to 12 months prior to your program start date, you will not be permitted to attend an F-1 visa appointment until within 120 days of your start date. Once you have obtained your F-1 visa, you may enter the United States no more than 30 days prior to your Program Start Date.

If you are already in the U.S. in F-1 status: please contact us at international@msmu.edu after submitting your tuition deposit to let us know you require a SEVIS record transfer. We will work with you and your current Designated School Official (DSO) to schedule your transfer.

• Course-by-course credential evaluation: if the college/university you attended is outside the United States, a course-by-course (also known as “course analysis”) credential evaluation must be submitted on your behalf by an accredited credential evaluation agency. We accept evaluations from any ; however, TEC – The Evaluation Company is our recommended provider. You may apply for a TEC Course Analysis Evaluation at a discount by using our customized application here: .

We review applications and admit students on a rolling basis. However, we do have a priority deadline and we recommend students apply as soon as possible. 

Transfer priority application deadlines (non-nursing):

• March 15: Fall admission
• November 1: Spring admission 

International students must apply by November 1 for Spring admission and August 1 for Fall admission.

Traditional BSN application deadlines:

The BSN program starts once per year in the Fall semester.

The application opens on September 1. The application deadline is February 1.  

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. For international applicants, this includes all items listed under Application Requirements above, as well as all BSN prerequisites and application requirements.

Accelerated BSN (ABSN) application deadlines: 

The ABSN program starts in the Summer and Fall. 

Summer term start: Application opens August 1. The application deadline is November 1. 

Fall term start: Application opens December 1. The application deadline is March 1. 

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. For international applicants, this includes all items listed under Application Requirements above, as well as all ABSN prerequisites and application requirements.

Weekend/Evening application deadlines: 

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Our priority deadlines are listed below:

• July 15: Fall admission

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. For international applicants, please review both the Application Requirements above as well as any other items required by your chosen Weekend/Evening program for admission. 

All admitted international traditional transfer and transfer BSN students will automatically receive our Dean’s International Student award – no separate application required. For students entering the 2025-26 academic year, the award will be $20,000 per year. 

The Accelerated BSN (ABSN) Program does not provide scholarships, nor do our Weekend/Evening and Online College programs. Students who enroll in our Weekend/Evening programs will receive discounted tuition for this program - $663 per credit hour. In lieu of traditional merit-based scholarships, we provide convenience and transparency in our pricing, so you can plan your goals around your budget. Our WEOC degree programs are offered at a 65% discount compared to our traditional undergraduate programs, giving you the affordability and transparency you need to earn your degree.

We have several pathways to transfer to Mount Saint Mary's University. Refer to the links below for more information on each program and its deadlines.

• Traditional Transfer: For students who plan to enroll full-time, with classes offered throughout the day. This program is for women only.
• Weekend/Evening Transfer: For students who plan to enroll part-time, with classes offered on the weekends and in the evenings. This program is open to all genders.
• Nursing Transfer: For students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. These programs are open to all genders.

Students applying for our J-1 Exchange Program have the opportunity to study at Mount Saint Mary’s University for a semester or a year. While studying at Mount Saint Mary’s University, students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester in the undergraduate program.

To apply as an international J-1 exchange student, please complete the following:

• Official transcript from your current institution (with English translation/certificate if the transcript is not in English)
• English Proficiency Score from within the last two years. The minimum proficiency test score requirements are:
  • TOEFL: 79 iBT or 550 ITP (Our college CEEB code is 4493)
  • IELTS: Band 6.5
  • Duolingo: 100
  • PTE-A: 54
    We will also accept an English proficiency document from your current institution.
• Evidence of Financial Support (Proof of Funds): We will share this form with you once you have submitted an application for admission.

Once you have been accepted, we will follow up with a request for more information, including the International Student Data form, a copy of your passport and health information. Our International Student Services team will then support you to apply for your J-1 visa and plan for your arrival to Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ.

It is advised to apply to your Â鶹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ Exchange Program at least three months in advance of your chosen semester. This will give you plenty of time to receive your Form DS-2019 and apply for your J-1 visa.
