The Mount is located in beautiful Los Angeles, California. We have two campuses in different parts of the city. Our Chalon Campus is located in the suburban-feeling Brentwood Heights neighborhood, at the literal top of a mountain in West L.A. From this mountaintop, you can see the Pacific Ocean, the L.A. skyline, and breathtaking mountain views. Our Doheny Campus is located just south of downtown L.A. in the bustling West Adams district. The campus is a quiet, green oasis surrounded by city life.

No. There are quite a few universities across the U.S. with similar names, but we are not related to them.

A car is not needed or recommended, at least not in your first year. We offer an inter-campus shuttle system that runs between the Chalon and Doheny campuses frequently every day, as well as a few other shuttle lines that will take you to other areas of interest for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) is your best choice for arrival, with hundreds of direct international flights daily from cities around the world. Our Chalon Campus is located about 30-40 minutes north of LAX on the I-405 freeway (Sunset Blvd. exit). Our Doheny Campus is about 45 minutes northeast.

Uber and Lyft are both easy options. Taxis are also available. If you need help planning your L.A. ground transportation before arrival, please contact us at international@msmu.edu.  

Yes, we offer residence halls with meal plans on both campuses (note: students enrolling in our Weekend/Evening and Online programs are not eligible for campus housing). However, space is limited and is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you submit your tuition deposit, the sooner you can submit your housing request. Getting your preferred placement is never guaranteed and depends on demand each semester. 

What CAN’T you do? The City of Angels is waiting for you! Between on-campus clubs and events to off-campus excursions sponsored by the Mount, you will have plenty to keep you busy. Some examples of Mount-sponsored trips include: Aquarium of the Pacific, the Grove Theater, Disneyland, and much more. Visit Student Life for more information about on- and off-campus activities.

Yes! Once you've submitted your Undergraduate Application, you will be invited to connect with a current international student via your Application Status Portal. 

If you are currently outside of the U.S. and/or need to obtain a new F-1 visa, it is advised to apply at least six months before your chosen semester. If you are already in the U.S. in F-1 status, it is recommended to apply at least one month in advance.

Mount Saint Mary’s is a predominantly women’s university. The only traditional undergraduate major open to male students is Nursing. Our Weekend/Evening programs are also open to male international students, but please be aware that these programs do not offer on-campus housing and will not be a traditional undergraduate student experience.  

Yes! EducationUSA is a U.S. Department of State organization that provides free support to international students who wish to study in the U.S. They have more than 400 centers in cities worldwide. EducationUSA advisors can meet with you one-on-one to talk about the university application process. They also offer in-person and virtual events on topics like “how to choose your U.S. university” and “preparing for the F-1 visa interview.”  

No. Transcripts sent by students will not be marked as official. If you haven’t yet, please call or email your school to request to have your transcript emailed to international@msmu.edu. It must be sent from an official school email address (i.e. not a personal Gmail account). If your school refuses or does not respond, then you will need to submit your own copy of the transcript to a credential evaluation service for review. The evaluation company must submit their evaluation, along with your transcript, to international@msmu.edu.  

No, you cannot. Any student who has earned postsecondary credit must apply as a Transfer Student and must submit their official transcripts (and a credential evaluation, if their college/university is outside the US).  

We run all student data through the National Student Clearinghouse to ensure that students have accurately reported their educational history. If you fail to report a school you have attended, you risk being denied admission or having your admission rescinded at a later date. It is very important that you list all high schools, colleges, universities or other institutions that you have attended. 

No, we do not. All traditional undergraduate international students will be awarded our Dean’s International Student Award of $20,000 per year, and we also have some selective scholarships available. Graduate students are eligible for certain scholarships by program. Click to learn more:

Traditional undergraduate (First Year and Transfer) international students will be invited to apply for our International Distinction Award after admission. Additionally, please check out our list of outside scholarships for more opportunities. 

Yes, international students are permitted under F-1 visa regulations to work up to 20 hours per week on their university campus. You can apply for jobs as early as your first week on campus. However, student jobs are limited and cannot always guarantee a full 20 hours. On-campus employment is a great way to get professional experience and it will provide you with some spending money, but it should NOT be part of your plan to pay your tuition and fees. Offices that hire non-work study students: Wellness Pavilion, Cafes, Undergraduate Admissions (sometimes), Community Advisor (sometimes).

International students in all majors are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT), 12 months of employment in their degree field, upon program completion. Your international student advisor will assist you to apply for OPT with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services up to 90 days prior to your graduation date. Meanwhile, our Career and Professional Development (CPD) office will help you find job opportunities that relate to your field of study.

Depending on your major, you may also be eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT), meaning an off-campus internship related to your major during your studies. If your program allows for CPT, your international student advisor will assist you with the steps to have it approved and notated on your I-20.

No, our undergraduate application is free. 

If you are admitted and choose to attend the Mount, you will need to submit a $350 Tuition Deposit to secure your seat and receive your Form I-20. If you choose to apply for on-campus housing, you will also need to submit a $200 Housing Deposit to access our Housing Application.

Yes! We offer 6-month and 4-month payment plans. You will be able to sign up for a payment plan, if desired, after you’ve committed to attend 麻豆传媒视频. 

International students must enroll in 麻豆传媒视频’s student medical insurance policy. U.S. health care costs are extremely high and we require all international students to be insured. We do not allow international students to waive our policy in favor of their own insurance, as we cannot easily verify if foreign policies can meet our strict coverage requirements.

Yes, to the extent that we are able. We will provide thorough instructions on paying your SEVIS fee, submitting your DS-160, booking your F-1 visa appointment, and preparing for your F-1 visa interview. We will also meet with you on Zoom before your appointment to help you prepare for a successful interview. With that said, we can never guarantee a visa approval.

This is not a viable way of obtaining F-1 status for a number of reasons. Even if you are already in the U.S. in B2 status, it is inadvisable to apply for a Change of Status to F-1 within the U.S. We strongly advise you to return to your country with your 麻豆传媒视频 I-20 to apply for the F-1 visa via consular processing.

Yes, we are happy to issue dependent I-20s to your spouse and/or children so they may apply for F-2 visas. Please note that for each dependent, you will need to demonstrate additional funding. Contact us for exact costs.
