Mount Saint Mary’s University’s website is one of the most important ways our community shares information with students, families, employees, alumni, and the public. Website editors help make sure the pages they know best stay current, clear, and helpful.

As a website editor, you will be trained to make routine updates to your assigned department or program pages in Terminalfour, the University’s content management system. You do not need previous website editing experience.

Training is online, quick, self-paced and designed to help you learn the tools you will use most often.

Keep your department’s information current

Editors help ensure that important details—such as program information, deadlines, contacts, forms, schedules, and announcements—are accurate and easy to find. Your work helps reduce outdated information and improves the experience for everyone who uses msmu.edu.

Communicate with our students, colleagues, and community

When web content is clear, consistent and up to date, people can find answers faster. As an editor, you play a direct role in helping students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors access the information they need.

Build useful digital skills

Editor training introduces you to Terminalfour, web content editing, links, media, formatting, accessibility basics, and best practices for maintaining public-facing content. These are practical skills that can support your work beyond a single website update.

Work with support from Web Services

You are not expected to figure everything out on your own. Web Services provides training, resources, guidance, and support so editors can make routine updates confidently.

What editors typically do

Website editors may help with routine updates, such as:

Updating text on assigned pages
Adding or revising links
Uploading and placing images
Linking to PDFs or documents
Replacing outdated files
Keeping department information current throughout the year

Editors are granted access only to the areas of the website approved for their role or department.

Learn on your time

The editor training program is completely self-paced, allowing you to complete it when your schedule allows. The training only takes two hours and includes a short series of videos, reference materials, and a hands-on evaluation. Training topics include logging in, navigating Terminalfour, editing content, adding links, using the Media Library, and adding media to pages.

After completing the training and evaluation, you will be approved as an editor and can start making changes to the site!

Ready to get started?

If you are interested in becoming a website editor, talk with your department head or supervisor about whether the role is a good fit for your department’s needs.

Once you are approved for training, submit a web request and Web Services will create your training access and send onboarding instructions.
